Nina Gumbs is from Miami, Florida. She is 16-year-old junior at Ransom Everglades High School in Coconut Grove, Florida. Nina enjoys playing soccer in the winter and running track in the spring. She likes to travel, bake, shop, and hang out with her friends. When she was first introduced to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by a close friend, Nina was excited to help make a difference because of how cancer has affected her family. Her paternal grandmother, Elsa Connor, lost her battle to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma before she was born. The disease prevented Nina from ever meeting her and she often thinks about the bond they could’ve had. With the help of LLS, Nina hopes to help so that one day, cancer is no longer taking lives from us.
